EuroCircle/HYVÄ Nordic Walk in Central Park –

‘AMP UP YOUR WALK IN THE PARK’

HYVÄ Nordic Walking has introduced the activity to New York and has partnered with EuroCircle for an exclusive group walk.

They use a wireless audio system to provide real time teaching cues and a music soundtrack.  You just need to bring along a set of earphones to plug into the receiver.  They provide the Nordic Walking poles.

This event is limited to 10 people. If they sell out there will be a second walk on Sunday, October 16th at noon. Cost is $10 cash payable before the walk.
PLEASE LET ALEXANDRA KNOW ASAP IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND email: newyork (at) eurocircle (dot) com

Have you ever Nordic Walked or know of someone that does?  You probably do as 12 million people from Scandinavia, Germany, Austria and the UK enjoy Nordic Walking as a fitness workout.  Now you can enjoy this low impact, Finnish cardio activity outdoors in Central Park.

There is a brief warm up and instruction period followed by a relaxed pace on the Bridle paths around the reservoir.  We will cover 3.6 km in 45 minutes while taking in the fall foliage. Nordic Walking achieves the same intensity as running but without the stress and high impact on joints.  Join fellow expats for a ‘walk in the park’.

What to wear:  Wear layers for the fall weather.  Comfortable walking shoes or sneakers.  Do not bring a handbag.  A bag pack or belt bag is fine.  Please arrive 15 minutes early so we can adjust your equipment. Hydrate (try to use bathroom facilities before the walk).

Instructor:  Sonja Johansson

QUOTE from their website: “When done correctly, Nordic walking can burn up to 40 percent more calories than regular walking, reduce knee and joint stress, boost oxygen consumption (which, in turn, benefits the brain) and help realign the body after a day hunched at a desk. It can even appeal to the exercise-averse since it feels easier than other exercises that require equal effort, says Dr. Pam Roberts, a family physician who teaches Nordic walking as a health and wellness coach at The Summit Medical Fitness Center in Kalispell, Montana. “[Nordic walkers] are getting a higher level of fitness, but they’re not feeling the drudgery of it,” she says.

More than a hobby, the sport – which has a low risk for injury and can be done virtually anywhere that’s walkable, from shopping malls to city sidewalks – can be therapeutic for a wide range of health conditions, including fibromyalgia, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis and diabetic peripheral neuropathy, a condition in which people’s damaged nerves can make it difficult to sense the ground when walking. Poles change that, Roberts says.

Nordic walking can also relieve people with orthopedic issues. One of Roberts’ clients, Diana Dorris, for example, first tried the activity a few years ago after all but giving up on being able to walk comfortably again. The now 66-year-old in Kalispell, Montana, had undergone two hip replacements and used canes to get around when she had to; otherwise, she called on others to help out. “I was bent over and really hobbling,” she says. Then, she attended Roberts’ seminar on Nordic walking, and her outlook changed.

Los Angeles – Sep 29 2016

Hi All,

We’re BACK!

We know it’s been some time since we arranged an evening to meet up, but both Tanya and I have had an extremely busy schedule. Just to kick off our Eurocircle Events, we’re going back to one of our favourites, Caffe Roma in Beverly Hills.

Let’s meet up and talk further about making more of a regular group meet up. We’re open to suggestions about new places you’d like to explore.

Caffe Roma, the flavours of Northern Italy, classic and contemporary Italian dishes upholding the European standard of hospitality and exemplary service.
From the most delicate thin-crust burrata, sausage, and rapini pizza to a succulent filet mignon steak topped with shaved parmesan and arugula… for lunch, dinner, or a drink– let’s all meet and have a great time.

Let’s all put in some effort to make this a really big and successful event – invite all the people you know, bring your friends, family and neighbours. Let’s let our hair down and have a great evening.

FOOD HAPPY HOUR – TILL CLOSING TIME (12am)
DRINKS SPECIAL – 1/2 PRICE UNTIL 8pm.

Please RSVP soon, we’d like to inform.
PLEASE REPOST THIS ON YOUR FACEBOOK WALL

See you all soon.

Regards,

Sonny and Tanya

Our  September event will take place at Craftsman on the East side for the 29th at 6pm.

Craftsman will offer $3 tall boys (Lonestar, PBR, and Ziegen Bock) as well as prosecco on draft until 9pm, and a specialty cocktail selection.
And if you feel like eating something, the team from PUEBLO VIEJO will offer you great Mexican food from their foodtruck

About Craftsman:
Brandon Testa converted the 1920’s home into a bar featuring a wraparound porch, back patio, and handpainted murals.
The “fun, house party” vibe that he’s striving for includes serving draft cocktails, well drinks, wine, and beer.
Awesome wrap around porch, excellent cocktails (try the “Feder is Better”) and fantastic atmosphere makes this a favorite bar/lounge on the East Side.!

Thrillist included it in the 11 Most beautiful bars in Austin recently:

“A relatively new spot located next to Stay Gold on East Cesar Chavez, Craftsman is set up in a converted home, with a big front porch, a picnic table-filled backyard, rooms stocked with mismatched antique-looking furniture, and a gorgeous wood-hewn bar serving both Prosecco and a selection of cocktails on draft. Oh, and there’s tether ball, a stage for live bands, and on Sundays, $3 mimosas in flavors like raspberry-cinnamon and blackberry-ginger. We can probably all agree that those are pretty beautiful things, too.”

This brand new restaurant, The Yard at Waller Creek is designed by Studio 11, there will be a big outdoor space and the 1960 Overlander Airstream bar serving lemonade cocktails when all the renovations are finalized (most of it is). NOTE: You can actually have DINNER here – and no sweating if you prefer being indoors. The Yard at the Waller is a great addition.

About the Yard (quote from FSR Magazine)

The restaurant evolved from a one-story mockup into a two-story space, which allowed the back bar to be pulled up through the atrium. This way, when patrons come into the restaurant, they can see the top part of the bar. Also, when they walk in and look over the railing, it’s an open space that oversees the bar area and there’s a large stairway spiraling around so guests can see all the way from the fourth floor. This makes the restaurant and the back bar a focal point of the entire property.

Studio 11 also developed what looks like a study library outside of the bar, complete with cocktail seating and tables for overspill.

The Back Yard remains purposely informal. The food is very handheld, with items ranging from tacos to barbecue. New York City-based mixologist Jason Kosmas of The 86 Co. helped curate the program, which includes the “Backyard Lemonade” and signature cocktails that arrive in labeled glass bottles. The lemonade can have different flavors infused and alcohol added or left out.

“I looked at it as, if this was my backyard and I had a picnic, what would I want to serve? We did a take on s’mores. So you can order s’mores from the Airstream outside or you can order s’mores from the restaurants. You’re encouraged to take your s’mores package and go outside and cook that on your own at one of our fire pits,” Schulze says.
