New York – Oct 01 2009

A very longtime Spanish member of EuroCircle, Ms. Ana de Calvo de Luis is proud to invite fellow Europeans to our first Spanish Art Show at Coolture Spain.
We would be delighted to have the pleasure of your company.
6 pm to 10.30 pm on Oct 1!

Spanish wine and appetizers will be served.

More about Ana:
She is a lawyer and economist, she left investment banking after the towers fell and decided to do something more creative, fun and exciting. Ana then started designing her own line of shoes and bags and introduced them in Barneys, Nordstrom and a hundred other cute boutiques all over USA, Bahamas, Greece… You have seen them in www.lolasloloslolitos.com Then, She decided to help other Spanish designers to introduce them in this market, both on the sales side and their PR. They started to get more and more involved with other designers, first European, then American , and then Project runnway and Fashion Week, and the whole thing.
Ana now has a small Fashion Showroom, where they represent a few designers, and where they do lots of interesting and fun events.
She decided to experiment with the art world. Luis Burgos a fantastic figurative painter, well known in Spain, who has never presented his work in New York. He rarely goes to his openings, but for the first time we will be in NYC, so you all can be meet him as well!!

BUT I would like to also make sure you all meet Ana..

The Sunday NYC invites all of us from EuroCircle to experience a wonderful Italian tradition at the peak of summer.

Ferragosto is, next to Christmas, Easter and New Year’s, probably the most important holiday in Italy.
Ferragosto is rooted in tradition and as old as the Roman Empire itself. The Romans honored the gods on August 15 with a celebration they called “Feriae Augusti” which was marked by collective rites, eating and drinking. Slaves and servants were allowed to participate in these rites.

At present times, August 15 is the day when Roman Catholics believe the Virgin Mary is supposed to have ascended to heaven. As a Christian holiday, Ferragosto is celebrated with the same zest and vigor as in earlier days. It is the peak of the holiday season for the Italians, who all believe they have to go out of town at Ferragosto.

Our Ferragosto will have a blend of Italian and Brazilian flavor and will be celebrated outdoors on the rooftop of Eden. Where Italy meets Brazil in NYC!
– Doors open at 6:00 pm
– Live Band Performance: Mistura Perfeita from 6:30 to 9:30
– House Music by Enzo Diggey
BRAZILIAN DELICIOUS hors d’oeuvres during Aperitivo time by La Palette from 6:00 to 9:00
Also served during the night – traditional Italian WATERMELON WITH VODKA and more party flavors to experience a unique FERRAGOSTO PARTY in NYC
Tickets at the door are $20.00

Marquee, a 6-000-square-foot ultra lounge and celebrity hot spot, is well known for its highly selective door policy, and coincidentally, the name appropriately describes the clientele within. The list of celebrities that have been partying at Marquee is very long and includes Mick Jagger, Uma Thurman, Mark Wahlberg, Tim Robbins, Sean Combs, Ben Stiller, Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, Benicio Del Toro, Owen Wilson, Scarlett Johansson.

Marquee delivers a distinctive “see-and-be-seen” atmosphere and a dramatic look. The club’s real attraction is the tri-leveled architectural interior – a main cabaret space with VIP mezzanine above and an intimate “Red Room” underneath – created by world-renowned architects Phillip Johnson and Alan Ritchie.

Led by suave, European host-owners Alex von Bidder and Julian Niccolini Four Seasons Restaurant delivers superior service, first-class Continental cuisine to an urbane crowd that is considered “who’s who in the city”. The regulars tout lunching among “power players” in the Grill Room or dining in the Serene “Pool Room” at night. The Four Seasons philosophy is “less is more” – figures it was designed by Philip Johnson and Mies can der Rohe.

And yes, it is expensive – but guess what, you are worth it! Treat yourself!

IRISH HUMOUR

Paddy was tooling along the road one fine day when the local policeman, a friend of his, pulled him over.
“What’s wrong, Seamus?” Paddy asked.

“Well didn’t ya know, Paddy, that your wife fell out of the car about five miles back?” said Seamus.

“Ah, praise the Almighty!” Paddy replied with relief. “I thought I’d gone deaf!”

Leprechaun stories, outrageous pub tales, fighting Irish gags, good luck, and some St. Patrick yarns are boasted with ethnic flair.

Saint Patrick’s Day parade in NY is well known in the world. In a typical year, 150,000 marchers participate in it, including bands, firefighters, military and police groups, county associations, emigrant societies, and social and cultural clubs, and 2 million spectators line the streets. The parade marches up 5th Avenue in Manhattan and is always led by the U.S. 69th Infantry Regiment. New York politicians – or those running for office – are always found prominently marching in the parade. Former New York City Mayor Ed Koch once proclaimed himself “Ed O’Koch” for the day, and he continues to don an Irish sweater and march every year up until 2003, even though he is no longer in office.

The parade is organized and run by the Ancient Order of Hibernians.[citation needed] For many years, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade was the primary public function of the organization. On occasion the order has appointed controversial Irish republican figures (some of whom were barred from the U.S.) to be its Grand Marshal.
