ABOUT FINLANDIA FOUNDATION NEW YORK
Finlandia Foundation New York Metropolitan Chapter is one of the foremost organizations to further cultural and educational exchange between the United States and Finland. Founded in April 12, 1954 by Reino Aarnio, Jean Pellinen, Britta Simpson and Raymond K. Luomanen as a 501c3 corporation, this foundation is a chapter of Finlandia Foundation® National which, along with its network of chapters and affiliates across United States, is the most important private source of support for Finnish culture in the United States.
Our mission is to sustain both Finnish-American culture in the New York tri-state area and the ancestral tie with Finland by raising funds for grants and scholarships, initiating innovative national programs, and encouraging a vast network of advocates.
By collaborating with Finlandia Foundation National and the extended network of local chapters throughout the United States, our hope is that we inspire and strengthen the Finnish-American community in the tri-state area — strengthening cultural identity in this wonderfully diverse nation for years to come.
